Very original 1949 FREJUS with CAMPAGNOLO GAMBIO GEAR - £1400

I like to check out Europe sometimes just to see something different.  Usually you dont see much but right now it looks like either an uber high end dealer is at work, someone is liquidating an estate, or there is the most ambitious scammer in the history of man.  But I was delighted to see these incredibly beautiful bikes you're not likely to come across in America.

We really need to step up our stem game, they used to be so much better looking.  Unfortunately a stop over in Switzerland yielded no Swiss Army Bikes.

Of Bernard

http://lynchburg.craigslist.org/bik/3794130284.html
DeBernardi Italian Road Bike - $350 (Amherst)

2001 DeBernardi Italian Road Bike

Price reduced...asking $350. OBO

49cm seat tube, 49.5cm top tube

Chromoly lugged frame

Columbus tubing

Campagnolo components

triple chain ring

salsa stem

Entry Level is a tricky term.  Columbus Thron Tubing and Campy Mirage.  If you ask the wrong (snooty) person they may snoot all over this bike because it's made of the lower end editions of their respective hierarchies, but it's not always apples to apples and the quality should be evident when you ride. $350 is a pretty good entry level price for the more boutique end of the bike world.  You could certainly find an equivalent frame set on older bike (Reynolds 531 I've read is lighter but stiffer, you're probably not getting a Columbus SL bike for this price though) at a lower price, however you're not going to get as new and/or nice componants.  I find a lot of older bikes really charming, you may not.  I'm not into the really racey aesthetic with fade paint schemes and your name all over everything. This is a great bike for a person with less sentiment than me who just wants to get out there and ride, quickly.  Between the stem and the seat I suspect this maybe wasn't a great fit for this guy, who might've appreciated a more touring styled frame better. Buy it short people, and if you can make an offer even better for you.

St. Vitus

http://neworleans.craigslist.org/bik/3811899536.html
Vitus Ultra Light Racing Bike - $600 (Mid-City)

Excellent condition. Almost never used.
$600 obo
For the minimalist in your life.  Like the odd duck German mountain bike from yesterday this is another uncommon use of lugs, this time with aluminum tubing.  The overall finish is very nice and produces a very light bike, but there were questions as to the frame's reliability because the lugs were bonded with glue instead of brazing.  Outfitted with Campy Super Record (atleast mostly, I cant quite spot the rear derailer.)  It's a collector's bike, but the nice thing about collecting bikes is you can take them out and ride them on Sunday.
