Vintage ATALA Grand Sport II italian road bike frame and fork! - $125 (North hills)

This is a vintage hand built ATALA Grand Sport II Road bike that measures 52cm. I think it is a 71-72 model. Tubing is Tuppio. Would make an excellent fixie!! This ad is for the frame and forks only!! This bike was in excellent condition. $125 or best offer!

If you remember we talked about other Italian bikes that pulled off the feat of  being low range but looking high end.  Thats the case here.  This guy is hedging his bets listing this as a complete bike for $350 or just the grame at $150.  Both are pretty outrageous prices and $150 for the complete bike is probably closer to acceptable.

The Tuppio tubing is actually Tullio with the double L written in script.  This was the hi-tensile tube manufacturer that Atala used for their low range bikes.  It's an oddity that they brand it at all, most manufacturers just identify the frame material.  That gives the seller the opportunity for a little implied embellishment.  "Would make an excellent fixie!!"  You see this phrase a lot, but is it true?  Most bikes have horizontal dropouts and thats about all it takes for someone to claim this would make an excellent fixie.  I agree you'd probably want to strip the low end deraillers and the giant pie plate.  "Would make a fixie!!" doesn't have the same ring but is perhaps more appropriate.  Save the Excellent fixies for bikes with track drop outs.
