Jacques Anquetil Vintage Racer - $250 (Jenkintown)

Vintage French 10-speed bike from the early 1970s. I know that stamped steel drop outs, cottered cranks and steel seat posts and handlebars are signs of bike-boom racers, but take a look at this Jacques Anquetil road bike with parts like Mafac Competition brakes, Exceltoo Super Competition hubs, Mavic MA 2 rims and Huret derailleurs. Very cool color, minimal adornment. For your collection of vintage lightweights.

Jacques Anquetil is one of the greatest cyclists of all time.  He was the first rider to win the Tour de France 5 times, to lead the Tour de France through every stage, and to win all three major Tours of Europe.  It's no wonder he also had a line of bikes to sponsor.

I'm putting this up more out of interest than anything, this bike is criminally over priced.  It's in slightly iffy shape and even if it were spotless it's built with cheap parts.  The salesman is giving you a spirited pitch, but at this point it's not unusual to see cotterless cranks and other upgrades.

The odd thing about cottered cranks is I do like how slim the crank arms are.  They're elegant, although I dont like the three pin chain rings.  For your collection of vintage heavyweights.
