Motobecane 12spd race bike - $300 (Casper

12 speed Motobecane Grand Record race bike. 700X19c tires. Weighs only 22.8 lbs. This is an older bike that needs tires and TLC. This bike sold new for around $1500. Here's a chance to upgrade to a very high-end bike for a great price. Asking $300 but will consider any reasonable offer.

What is probably a 1980 Grand Record.  Record is one of the funny words in bikes because there are high end records and entry level records.  This was a very high end bike for Motobecane, the top of their 'sport' line, falling right after their two 'pro' models.  It would've been nicely equipped with all Shimano 600EX, with drilled brake levers and the cool arabesque shifters.  The tubing was Vitus 172, a Reynolds 531 competitor.  The styling on the earlier models was better, without the decals and Nervex Pro lugs instead of the more plain cut lugs of this model.  Earlier models also mixed Stronglight and Campy parts.  Those are probably more flashy name wise but there is something nice about the unity of an entire groupset.

I dont know what the MSRP was on this bike but I'm sure it was high.  $300 is hefty, but not outlandish.  It's in a crazy small market, Wyoming.  Does that justify or discourage the price?  Less buyers but less stock.  I dont know what it's worth to you.  A really nice bike, but can you imagine if it had cloth tape and just 'motobecane' on the downtube instead of that dorky 80s stuff?  The seller would do good to show off the bike a bit more, it deserves it.
