Panasonic is another brand that probably would've done well to just make up some other moniker for their bike line, because it doesn't sound particularly attractive.  They made a go of it though with a wide range of bikes to appeal to every level of rider.  This would have been their lesser touring model from the late 80s.  I think 1985 is a little early unless this guy didn't count his gears right. 

But unlike most low level 'touring' models this bike is actually outfitted somewhat like a tourer.  Canti brakes, triple cranks and along range derailler.  The frame was stout Tange 1000 and you can put fenders on it.  Ofcourse it isn't a tourer you can do much touring on, but you could turn this into a great rain bike or errand runner.  And you're in at only $100.  By the end of the 80s, though, even these models were decked out with every braze on you could want and could be outfitted like an honest to goodness touring bike. 

The styling of this bike is mercifully minimalistic, as some of the decals on the Panasonics are hideously 80s.  I wonder what the ride is like?  I had a Panasonic sport which was heavy as a tank and, despite being my size, I really had to crunch up to ride.  The touring model may have had a more expanded geometry and a better ride for someone like me.

Steel frame and fork - $75 (Broadmore)

Lemond alp de huez steel fram 56cm road bike frame with fork, stem and campagnolo handlebars.

A late '90s steel frame.  Alp De Huez was the entry level racing bike but entry level of a boutique sub brand that didn't make very many models.  The True Temper tubing frame originally came with all campy componants, and was a step down from the Carbon and Reynolds 853 models.  Still, a bike designed by a racer, newer steel, nice looks and a few extras.  I always kindof like to see frames with no bottom brackets, because they arent that expensive and hey, you'll have a brand new smooth as silk bottom bracket after you build up.  For $75 you're making a very nice, pretty economical start.

This is actually confusing.  The frame set alone, even if it was bought at the close out price, was $800.  With all the parts you may be around half priced.  These frames are no longer available and for a brand like Riv that's probably only going to add to the value.  He's also willing to cover shipping.  This may be the deal of the century, it may be a huge scam.  Maybe you dont want a single speed?  I think with a clamp on derailler you could put a double on it, then it's a two speed.  I wonder if you could fit an internally geared hub in the back and make it a 3-5?  It's possible single speed wasn't for this guy.  I'd like to see what else is in that garage.
